Highland students here to stay

computer-1185626_1280Starting the week on a high!

On Tuesday young people across Scotland received their exam results and it was certainly worth the wait.  Scottish students are performing well and it is a testament to all the hard work of pupils, their teachers, parents and guardians. Initial figures show a 5.5 per cent increase in the pass rate compared with 2014.

In the Highlands alone, 443 candidates achieved five Highers in one sitting and in the constituency of Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey 32 pupils attained 5 higher ‘A’ results. A truly special remarkable achievement.

Candidates achieving 5 Higher ‘A’ results in this constituency.

  • 13 pupils at Millburn Academy
  • 8 pupils at Culloden Academy
  • 7 pupils at Inverness Royal Academy
  • 4 pupils at Nairn Academy

With so much talent on our doorsteps it was fantastic to see that a new study found that more school leavers are choosing to make the Highlands their home. It is essential that we all work together to improve connectivity and seek new investment to offer our young people all the opportunities they deserve.

I wish all school leavers moving on to pastures new, whether it be to work or study, all the very best.
