Becoming More Accessible

It’s clear that the impact of the cost-of-living crisis and skyrocketing prices has touched all corners of our community, reaching more of us than ever before.

Living in rural communities brings its own set of hurdles when the economy is struggling. There seems to be never-ending demand for money, and that pressure is tough on anyone.

The summer should be about relaxation and family, but for many, it brings added financial stress – especially for those with little ones to entertain and provide for throughout the holidays.

Part of my role as your MP – one I hold dear – is to help you, your family, and your community by ensuring you have the support you need.

Whether it’s help with food, advice on managing finances, or a point in the right direction for support, my team and I are here to help find you the support you need. We work closely with local organisations that are ready and willing to lend a hand.

If you are struggling, know you are not alone.

You can contact me any time for help – and I want to make that as easy as possible for you, especially in our rural areas.

As your elected representative, it is my responsibility to listen to you, to hear your concerns, and to understand your needs. I’ve been privileged to serve you, and in that service, I’ve always sought to be as accessible as possible.

However, the traditional structure of MP surgeries hasn’t always made that easy. Fixed schedules in set locations and waiting rooms don’t necessarily provide the most convenient or comfortable environments for our conversations. That’s why I wanted to make it easier for you.

To better accommodate your busy lives and respect your time, we’ve updated my website to allow you to schedule a call or meeting at your convenience. No longer will you need to adjust your schedules to fit mine or find yourself in a waiting room when you could be spending your time more productively.

You should be able to engage with me, your MP, in a way that fits into your life, not the other way around. Whether you’re juggling work commitments, managing a bustling family life, pursuing education, or enjoying your retirement, I want to ensure our meetings suit you.

Just visit my website to select a date and time that works best for you, or call my office on 01463 611 024.

We’ve trialled this change over the past months and the feedback from other residents has been really positive. This change in approach also allows me to get out on the doors and listen to our local community, and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible over the summer as I do my street surgeries.

Your voice is vital to the work I do, and I hope this small step makes our engagements more convenient and our conversations more meaningful.

My team and I have also created a support hub on my website with useful contacts for support with food, mental health difficulties, housing and money advice. You will find the support hub and ways to contact me at www.drewhendrymp.scot.

I’ve learned through the years that the Highland’s greatest strength lies in its people, in our capacity to lift each other up in times of need. Please reach out if you need any advice or support.
